We were fortunate enough to win two awards recently! Community Improvement of Algoma nominated us for the Best Interior Renovation project for the Wisconsin Main Street Program awards, and we won! That was very exciting, since the award is on a state-wide level. Here is a link to all of the winners and the press release.
We also won a Rose Award from the Algoma Chamber of Commerce, which is for helping to make the downtown more inviting. It was nice to be recognized for all of our hard work and we really appreciate it!
Join us on Sunday, the 24th, between 3-5 pm!!
This will be the first meeting of the newly formed Stitch ‘n Sip group (sorry we had to cancel the last one!) and we hope that as time goes by that lots of people will be able to come to this informal and fun gathering. Bring your own project (knitting, sewing, embroidery, crochet, etc.) or work on a community or charity collaboration that we provide. Whether your work is alternative or traditional, beginner or advanced, everybody is welcome here.
The sipping part is that I will be serving wine, coffee, and water. You can feel free to bring a different beverage and a snack if you like. Also, if you have any fiber/textile books or magazines that are interesting and inspiring, feel free to bring those to the meetings as well.
I’m excited to announce that the gallery has sponsored a Dream panel for the upcoming Dream Rocket fiber community collaboration organized by Jennifer Marsh and the International Fiber Collaborative. Check out this website to learn more about this ambitious project and then come to the Stitch ‘n Sip meeting to add your contribution to the panel. Our work will then be installed on the Saturn V Rocket in Huntsville, Alabama!
Also, I have started a blog for the group, which you can find at http://stitchnsip.wordpress.com. We can keep updated with each other and post pictures of our projects. If you would like to be an admin, just let me know what your email address is and then you can post directly on the blog.

Our kid’s art studio is now up and running–and it’s free! Stop by anytime during regular hours and bring your kids to draw, paint, make a popsicle stick puppet, a paper-folding project (provided by the Toymaker), or just mess about with ribbons, pipecleaners, stickers, and such.
New feature on the website–signup for our mailing list!
I send out a quarterly e-mail with updates, announcements, and news. If you include your snail mail address, I will send you periodic colorful postcards with event invitations, special promotions, and more.
We DO NOT sell or rent your information. E-mail us anytime to remove your name from the list or to make changes.
Also–you can use the mailing list form to send me a message if you like. Thanks!
I’ve been a little obsessed with Flickr lately. Probably because I just got a new camera. It’s only a point-and-shoot, but I love it so much–a Nikon P80. So I’ve been browsing through Flickr a bunch (especially since I’ve been sitting in the hospital for the last week with Brandon and have an exorbinant amount of free time). I have said it before, and I’ll say it again–I can’t believe the amount of talented artists out there in the world. Aren’t we lucky to live in a world where we have the Internet and are able to discover so much great art everyday!!?
So I have set up a Flickr group for The Eclipse Gallery. This group is for artists, makers, and designers who:
1. Have exhibited at The Eclipse Gallery
2. Who are going to exhibit at The Eclipse Gallery
3. Who want to exhibit at The Eclipse Gallery
